History of German painted Pewter ornaments.
The original German pewter art has been made in Germany for hundreds of years. Beginning in 1796 within Diessen, a small town located on the shores of Ammersee its ornaments have spread around the world .Each pewter piece is cast individually from molds carefully engraved in slabs of slate. Designed with accuracy and highest detail of the finest pewter caster, each piece is then hand painted by classically trained artists dedicated to preserving the heritage of the collections. I have some of my Grandmothers pewter skating scene that is a joy to bring our each Christmas.
